Our team members love what they do, and it shows. Dr. Plant, the founder of SkinVet Clinic, chose veterinary medicine as a career when he was just six years old. He studied dermatology in his second year of veterinary school and was hooked! After 30 years as a veterinary dermatologist, he still enjoys helping pets overcome common, but often challenging skin and ear disorders.
You’ll find that all of our team members are dedicated to helping your pet and that a dermatologist brings a wealth of specialized experience to your best friend’s medical team. Chances are good that we’ve seen your pet’s condition before, and our breadth of knowledge always guides our recommendations.
Jon D. Plant, DVM, DACVD
Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologist
Dr. Plant received his B.A. from Reed College and his D.V.M. from Oregon State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He then completed a residency in veterinary dermatology and started the Animal Dermatology Specialty Clinic in Southern California. He managed the skin problems of household pets, service dogs, animal actors, and pets of Hollywood celebrities for 15 years. Dr. Plant returned to Oregon to join the faculty at Oregon State University, where he lectured and performed research in veterinary dermatology for three years.
Dr. Plant has published numerous research articles, mainly related to allergic skin diseases. He served as the Dermatology Section Editor of the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association and has served as the President of the Portland Veterinary Medical Association and Washington County Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Plant and his wife, Kara, live in Sherwood with their two children, dogs, cats, goats and chickens. Dr. Plant enjoys traveling, golf, photography, and spending time with his family.
Missi
Pet Care Coordinator
Missi moved to Oregon from Ohio ten years ago, and now lives in Lake Oswego. Caring for animals has always been a part of her life, and she has volunteered in animal shelters for more than 25 years. She currently volunteers on the Dog Walking Team at Oregon Humane Society. Missi has always been a pet parent to large dogs but recently adopted her very first small dog, who helps keep her three rescue cats on their toes! Missi always goes above and beyond for SkinVet clients and pets to be sure they receive the best customer care possible.
Ashley
Doctor Assistant
Ashley brings the spirit of Aloha with her from her home state of Hawaii. After receiving an Associate degree in veterinary technology from Windward Community College in Oahu, she moved to Oregon in 2017. Ashley has many interests, including hiking, painting, jewelry making, baking and travel. She shares her home with her cat named “Friend.”
Karla
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Karla grew up on a farm in McMinnville, where she developed a passion for animal care. She has been a licensed veterinary technician since 2005. During her free time, she enjoys music, gardening, and painting. If you are on a local river, you might see her white water kayaking in a neon pink life jacket.
Traci
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Traci has worked in the Veterinary field since 2013 and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2015. A west coast native, Traci grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2017 with her husband and two dogs - Charlie and Pico. When she is off the clock, you may find her embracing her passion for music and staying active through Pilates, hiking, and gardening.
Dorie
Dorie grew up on a working farm in upstate New York surrounded by farm animals that included her goat “Goober” and thoroughbred horse “Velvet Flight”. Raising litters of puppies and caring for horses has always been a passion of hers. Dorie received a BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a MS from Portland State University. When she is not caring for animals, pet sitting, house sitting, or managing properties, you can find her skiing in the mountains or kayaking rivers.
