Ear Infections

Ear cleaning, CT scans, and fiberoptic video otoscopy. We often perform ear canal cytology to microscopically examine the ears for bacteria, yeast, and signs of inflammation. Ear cytology is also an important part of treatment follow-up. To better visualize the long ear canal of dogs and cats with bright light and magnification, we are able to use our fiberoptic video otoscope equipment. When a deep ear cleaning is required, we flush under visualization in the delicate deep ear canal. Anesthesia is required for this procedure.

As the only veterinary dermatology practice in Oregon with a dedicated cone beam computerized tomography (CT), we routinely image the middle ear cavity for a more precise diagnosis. We are also able to take biopsies of ear canal masses, remove polyps, and perform laser surgery in the ear canal. We reserve a significant portion of our schedule each week to these procedures to get pets the ear care they need when they need it.
